MikroWin is a complete package for the flexible evaluation of all microplate test kits. The software can control a reading process for every microplate orientated reader. After the raw data is saved it is processed by a test specific parameter file. The results may be printed or exported. MikroWin uses a driver system in order to connect to the different istruments like mikroplate readers, automated liquid handling devices or host systems. Drivers for most of the photometric, fluorometric, luminometric, LS/Gamma counter and multilabel microplate reader are already available. MikroWin provides the ability to evaluate any kind of screening assays using controls, classifications and calculation groups. It provides a large amount of curve fitting routines (linear or nonlinear), that can be used for the calculation of concetrations. It is also able to perform kinetic measurements and includes comprehensive data reduction algorithms.

The overlay and layout of the microplate is flexible in order to suits all possible assay applications. The microplate partitioning (replicates) is visualised to the user. Up to 48 different tests (or standard curves) may be defined on a single microplate. Controls or standards may be assigned to any position, each individual control and standard is colour coded to aid the user. MikroWin uses a multiple layer matrix calculation system to calculate the end results of an assay. This allows the most complicated test formula to be broken down to a step by step process. MikroWin offers result classification with upto 10 different classes (e.g. HighPos, Pos, LowPos, Doubtful, Neg). Each threshold limit is calculated using an algebraic formula or value. Each class may also be colour coded allowing easy identification of particular results. Multiple test results may be combined (e.g. Sample ID's, Measurement values, Qualitative) on a single screen. MikroWin has a large amount of curve fitting routines which can be used for the calculation of sample concentrations. Concentrations may also be calculated in a non linear situation. Standard routines include Regression, Point to Point, Spline, 4Para, Logit Log etc.). Up to 48 reference curves can be processed on a single microplate. All curves may be saved, so that standards don't have to be pippetted again on following plates (batch) View curvfit example.

MikroWin allows to monitor the measurement data of all wells during a kinetic measurement. Any well or set of wells may be marked and then enlarged for more detailed examination. Individual graphics of wells may also be printed. Comprehensive data reduction algorithms are availalbe to be used for calculating conditions like Delta/Min or Onsetime. View kinetics example.

In order to improve the flexibility of MikroWin a driver system has been implemented. Similar for example to the drivers used for printers. There are four different types of driver in use:

  • Reader driver: These allow us to handle any microplate or microarray orientated instrument. Drivers are available for Anthos, Asys Hitech, Titertek-Berthold, Berthold-Technologies, Bio-Rad, Bio-Tek, Dade-Behring, Diasorin, Dynex, Hamilton, Hidex, Molecular-Devices, Perkin-Elmer, Wallac, Tecan, Thermo, Labsystems and many more.
  • Export driver: These allow the user to export results to other software or host systems. Drivers are available to generate any kind of file based export. The export of results directly into a database is also possible using this driver type.
  • Sampler driver: In cases where a large amount of tests are being performed, often sample processors or equivalent systems are used. In order to integrate MikroWin with those automated systems this driver type is able to import any kind of sample meta data like sample ID, sample dilution or anly other process information.
  • Curvefit driver: Often in clinical chemistry different types of curvefit methods are used to calculate concentration's. This driver type allows us to be up to date and design new fitting routines to fullfill your needs. The most common methods like 4Paramater, Logit-Log, Spline, Regression, Point2Point are available by default.
